Tree Trimming

Department of Street and Sanitation's Bureau of Forestry

Thanks to additional funding, the Department of Street and Sanitation's Bureau of Forestry has increased its tree trimming crews and now has the capacity for a citywide tree trimming program. This means crews can trim all trees in one geographic area at the same time, creating a more efficient process for Chicago residents, and allowing for the proper maintenance of the City’s overall urban tree canopy.

The Bureau of Forestry’s goal is to operate weekly in every ward during the tree trimming season (generally April - December), barring any emergency weather incidents. Currently, the Bureau of Forestry conducts operations beginning on Monday each week in the 2nd Ward. Please consult the interactive map below to familiarize yourself with the boundaries of your grid.
